In her compelling memoir Love from the Other Side, author Carol Shimp tells the fascinating story of her quest to balance her daily life with her strong experiences of the spirit world. Growing up Catholic in the 1950s, Carol went to church, learned self-discipline, and participated in traditional religion. But even as a child, she experienced precognitive dreams and messages which she could not discuss with anyone. The death of her mother inspired Carol to learn more about her gifts, and to find a small group of spiritual seekers. But Carol could not have imagined the journey she would take when the earthbound spirit of someone from her past became a very real presence in her life and in her marriage. Calling on her spirit guides and her support system, Carol navigated dangerous territory, seeking to free herself, her husband and the unquiet soul who resisted going to the light.

How far the distance we did not measure. Our furring boots in step with our pleasure. Arm in arm a friendly warmth we shared. The breath of our wishes frozen in air. Snowflakes dressed in delicate lace Tumbling softly touched our face. Together we blended in quiet harmony, Our footprints in the snow held silent memories. |

I came into this world on June 30th 1941. while growing up in Canton Ohio In my early years, I lived on 15 ST. NE. Just off Harrisburg RD. Across the alley from our home was James Laundry and Dry Cleaners. Quality Dairy was down the road behind James Laundry. At the end of the alley across the bridge stood the factory Union Metal. My family was a member of Saint Pauls Catholic Church where I went to school until grade 6. We then moved to NE 33rd ST. In 1962 I married Albert Shimp.I had many different jobs over the years as did my husband. It was Aug. 1969 my husband and our two children relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I retired from Publix Super Market in 2006. With time on my hands I put together my journal, notes and memories. With the grace of God I was able to publish my story. "Love From the Other Side."
